You can help Appalachian communities as we rise after the destruction from Hurricane Helene. We're getting to the point that money donations are more important than anything else (Not to me!). And it doesn't have to be a lot!!

If we can get people giving $5, 10, 20 dollars to a charity, that'd be awesome.

Personally, I'm focusing my contributions onexisting relief organizations that have already:
1) planted boots on the ground, and
2) established infrastructures to conduct massive operations.

Before I donate, I consultCharity Navigator, an independent organization that evaluates charities and provides an easy-to-use platform for learning about and donating to organizations.

Below, you'll find some highly rated charities on the CN website:

American Red Cross
Appalachian Voices
Asheville Humane Society
United Way of North Carolina

If you’re wanting your money to go to local organizations already working here in Southern Appalachia, I've provided several that working with local communities right now.

Still, please do your homework:

Appalachian Highlands Humane Society
Appalachian Serive Project
RISE Erwin
Second Harvest Food Bank
United Way of East Tennessee Highlands
United Way of Southwest Virginia
Watauga Humane Society

Thank you!!!! & HUGS
